Donald Trump has agreed to have a televised debate with Kamala Harris on September 4th

The Republican Donald Trump accepted the offer made by the Fox News television station to organize a debate on September 4 with the vice president of the USA and the Democratic candidate for the presidential elections, Kamala Harris, reports The Independent.

His announcement comes after Harris challenged her Republican rival in the November election, Donald Trump, to a debate after the former president declined to attend such an event. The former president of the United States reasoned then that it is not yet the nomination of the Democrats officially, according to the BBC.

Donald Trump announced on his Truth Social platform that the debate will take place in Pennsylvania, at a yet to be determined location. “If for any reason Kamala is unwilling or unable to attend the debate on that date, we have agreed with Fox to hold a major public meeting on the evening of September 4th,” he added.

The 45th president added that the debate would be moderated by journalists Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum and that the rules would be similar to those of his previous debate with Mr. Biden, but “with a full arena.”

Trump claimed he was prepared to accept the results of a “coup” and replace Biden on stage with “crazy Kamala Harris.”

“I spent hundreds of millions of dollars, time and effort fighting against Joe, and when I won the debate, they threw a new candidate into the ring. It’s not fair,” he lamented, before adding: “But that’s the way it is!”.

“However, whether it’s a different candidate or not, their bad policies are the same, and that will be revealed at the Sept. 4 debate,” Trump said.

Trump had a clear imafine advantage in the June 27 debate with Joe Biden, whose shaky performance reinforced voters’ concerns about his age. The two had agreed to have a second debate on September 10, but Trump has so far avoided clarifying whether he will participate in a debate with Kamala Harris.

After Biden dropped out of the presidential race on July 21 and endorsed his vice president as the Democratic nominee, Donald Trump said he would not participate in a debate with her because she was not the official nominee of the Democratic Party. He added that former President Barack Obama has yet to show his support, but a day later, Obama showed his support for Harris, who on Friday won the necessary delegate votes to be nominated as the party’s presidential candidate.

The debate had become a rallying cry for Ms Harris, who this week urged her Republican opponent to “reconsider” meeting her on stage. “Because, as they say, if you’ve got something to say, say it to my face,” Kamala Harris said.

Donald Trump has previously said he did not need to debate Ms Harris because she was leading in the polls and voters already knew where he and his Democratic rival stood on the issues.
